Jonathan
Jonathan
High
SAT
Teenage

Our Young Pianist
Phillip Wang
Our
Bible study group has more than 20 adults and meets every Friday night
in different families on a rotation base.
Most of us are either engineer or scientist.
Our eyes glow and fingers fly on keyboard (computer) when it
comes to debugging and ASIC-Chip design.
Yet we are so helpless in front of other kind of keyboard
(piano) and reading music sheets.
Many of us grew up musically handicapped because of our poverty
up-bringing some forty and fifty years ago in either Mainland China or
Taiwan. It’s our prayer
that we have a musician to lead us in our music worship.
We yearn to learn new songs and pour our hearts out with
praises and thanksgiving in singing.
With
hope and prayer, we keep our faith …
Lo and behold, one day our much hoped musician shows up.
Jonathan, son of Eugene and Biyun Su, decides to serve as our
musician. The teenage boy
is so talented and musically versatile.
Clarinet, violin and piano, he plays them all at performance
level. With rather tight
schedule like any student from Lynbrook High, extra-curriculum
activities and SAT preparation, he remains determined to help us out.
His enthusiasm on serving and bearing us mixed with our much
off-keyed tune and unrestrained voices sung at the top of one’s lung
many a time, make us a unique chore, one of its kind.
Not
long after, he becomes one of us, our musician.
All one needs to do is to provide him songs two to three days
ahead of our meeting, he will take time to prepare himself.
Many times, he plays for us with no music sheets, all
remembered by heart. By
this we know how much he give to this service helping us.
Every times he brings enthusiasm, great attitude and most of
all, he is punctual. Other
time, he brings his friend, a Clarinet player to play duet.
We grown-ups look this teenage boy up with admiration.
Whenever music and songs rise, our hearts enter into music
worship and he and us become one.
Recently, at Mainland and Couples combined music presentation,
a four part music vocal, “God Father Leads Us Marching On”,
through three months practice, he sticks with us.
His music and our song bring many to tears both on stage and in
audience. Jonathan and
his music become endearing to us.
Our young musician has grown much in body and as well spirit
while serving us.
It’s
our prayer Jonathan grows much in the love of Him and church family.
God bless this young man!
